American boy band Big Time Rush started performing mainstream music in 2009. Logan Henderson, Carlos PenaVega, James Maslow, and Kendall Schmidt make up the group.

In 2009, they signed with Nick Records at first, but later moved to Columbia Records. The quartet starred in the Big Time Rush television series on Nickelodeon, which aired from November 28, 2009 until July 25, 2013. "Big Time Rush," the group's first promotional single, was used in the premiere episode.

Four studio albums have been released by the group: Elevate (2011), BTR (2010), 24/Seven (2013), and Another Life (2023). In 2014, the group announced an indefinite break, which continued until 2021, when they returned to live performances and dropped the single "Call It Like I See It."

Big Time Rush has been portrayed as "child-friendly" given their connection with Nickelodeon. "Big Time Rush is a standout, not only because of their boyish charm and good looks, but because their music is a cool blend of synth-pop, hip-hop, and boy-band harmonies," Jessica Dawson from Common Sense Media wrote in a review of their first studio album, BTR. The band's sound is described as "pop-inspired dance-rock."

Big Time Rush beat out One Direction and the Wanted to win the title of "Best Boy Band in the World" in Parade's 2012 survey, with more than 800,000 votes cast. Parade published a national best-seller on August 5, 2012, with the band on the cover. Along with NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys, Big Time Rush was included in the magazine's list of "Greatest Boy Bands of All Time" on their website. The group's win was also highlighted in an interview and photo package that was published in the same issue.

The boy band was voted number 15 in the Washington Times Magazine's "Top 20 Best Boy Bands of the Decade" in 2012. In 2013, they also ranked number 28 on the POP! Goes The Charts’ “Top 40 Best Boy Bands of the past 25 years.”

Through the years, Big Time Rush has received several nominations and landed several awards for their music and performances. No wonder they have been able to keep their fanbase even after taking a break for seven years!
