Every time we have a concert here it’s a party - but this time around, well, there’s no QUESTION that we’re bringing the best sounds here all summer long, but especially when the Orange County Fair comes back around. The OC Fair is our annual celebration and peak summer event here in southern california and held right in the heart of Costa Mesa. Starting all the way back in 1890 (!!!), when it began as an eclectic showcase of livestock, horse racing, and local exhibits in Santa Ana, and has always been organized by the Orange County Community Fair Corporation. Over the early decades, management shifted among local groups and locations, with carnival attractions gradually added around 1900 as public interest grew. But by the 1990s, the fair had become a staple of regional culture - and a place where we can come to see all our favorite music. Happening over twenty three days here in the middle of the summer, on Saturday July 18th we’re bringing in Chris Young to continue the centuries of celebration and community we have made here - and yea folks, we’re gonna need you front and center for this one when it all goes down.
Chris Young was born June 12, 1985 in Tennessee and is one of the most recognizable Country singers and songwriters across the genre - and across the globe, too. Known for his deep, rich baritone and his string of chart-topping hits, Young began performing in local talent shows and honed his craft from a young age. But that all changed at the turn of the century when he got national attention in 2006 when he won the fourth season of the reality competition Nashville Star, earning a recording contract and launching his professional career.
Young’s self-titled debut album introduced him to country audiences, but his major breakthrough came with his second album, The Man I Want to Be (2009), which produced multiple No. 1 hits, including “Gettin’ You Home (The Black Dress Song)” and “Voices.” Over the years, albums like Neon (2011), A.M. (2013), I’m Comin’ Over (2015), and Famous Friends (2021) cemented his status as a consistent hitmaker. He’s a modern day Homer when it comes to storytelling and talking about all things country and cool - and THAT folks is why we have to see him live when it all goes down here this summertime.
Well well well - looks like we’re ready for the best night of the summer! Don’t make it a bummer - grab your crew, and we’ll see you real soon!
