Rebelution is a band from Isla Vista, California, and ever since their breakthrough 2007 album, Courage To Grow, they have always followed their instincts when it comes to music.

Eric Rachmany, Matt Velasquez, Rory Carey, Marley D. Williams, and Wesley Finley were the five initial band members. They were all students at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Rebelution started gaining traction in 2004–2005 by doing regular local performances and putting out an indie EP. After completing their degrees in business economics (Carey), anthropology (Finley), cinema studies (Williams), and religious studies (Rachmany), the four current members all graduated from UC Santa Barbara.

On June 8, 2007, Rebelution released their debut full-length album, Courage to Grow, which would go on to become the band's breakout record. The CD received accolades for its astute musicianship, socially concerned content, and deft melodies.

Courage to Grow was chosen as iTunes Editor's Choice for Best Reggae Album of 2007 and the album went on to garner mass downloads and radio play on stations like San Francisco's Live 105 where their single "Safe and Sound" was played on heavy rotation, with spins on San Diego's 91X and Los Angeles's KROQ. Furthermore, Courage to Grow reached its highest position of #4 on the Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart. Regrettably, Velasquez, one of the two vocalists, departed Rebelution as a four-piece band following the release of Courage to Grow due to exhaustion from the demanding touring schedule.

They received a Grammy Award nomination in 2017 for Best Reggae Album. Their amazing live shows have earned the band festival slots at places like Lolllapalooza, ACL, Glastonbury, and Bonnaroo, in addition to selling out headline concerts at places like The Greek Theatre and Red Rocks.

Surf Roots TV & Radio nominated Rebelution for the fans' choice "2021 Album of the Year" award in December 2021 for their album In The Moment..

The band’s soulful, exhilarating brand of modern reggae is combined with pop hooks, alt-rock grit, and hip-hop grooves in their intelligent and varied most recent album, In The Moment. The bold and self-assured performances are matched with an equally ambitious staging.
